Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert contracts are on the horizon

Burrow and Herbert are signed through 2024, so there is no major rush here. Yet, the longer the Bengals and Chargers wait, the more it’ll likely cost them.

Inflation is high on everything right now. This includes football players, and quarterbacks the caliber of Burrow and Herbert. Some experts claimed that Burrow will start at $275 million guaranteed, and only go up from there. Herbert would likely be in the same category.

Whoever signs first would want to one-up the other. It’s only fair, given they’re in the same draft class and often conversation in terms of best young QB in football. Both play for franchises which don’t always love spending money.

Burrow’s situation is far worse in Cincinnati. The Brown family might even have to take out a loan just to sign him. The Chargers just moved to Los Angeles, so ideally they should be fine taking care of their own when the time comes.

Next offseason is when the chatter should start surrounding these two young stars of the game. Assuming they perform anything like they did last year, the contract numbers will be astronomical.
