Frankie Montas rumors: 5 teams that should offer trade after stellar return
By Scott Rogust
4. Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox have had far from the best first halves of the season. They did not pick up a single series win against any of their AL East rivals ahead of the All-Star break. The team has not had the greatest of luck this season when it comes to the health of their starting pitchers.
Michael Wacha sidelined with right shoulder inflammation. Rich Hill recovering from a left knee ligament tear. Connor Seabold dealing with a right forearm extensor strain.
As if things would not get any worse, Chris Sale ended up on that list of injured pitchers. Sale had just made his return after recovering from a stress fracture in his right rib cage. In his second start of the 2022 season, Sale took a comebacker from New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks to his left hand, fracturing his pinky finger. He has since undergone surgery.
Even with their struggles, the Red Sox are still in postseason contention entering the All-Star break. Two games behind the Toronto Blue Jays for the third and final AL Wild Card spot, to be exact.
The Red Sox are still in a position to buy at the deadline. If that is what they want to do, they should definitely go for one of the top pitchers available. One of them is Montas.
