3 White Sox who won’t be on the roster past the Trade Deadline

White Sox need to trade Seby Savala to clear their logjam
With Yasmani Grandal healthy again, there’s no reason for the White Sox to have 3 catchers on this roster. They didn’t have enough players to flex into other positions before Grandal came back. As SouthSideShowdown says, the White Sox should trade Seby Zavala to clear a logjam and bring back another player who can play every day to actually help the White Sox.
No way are they trading Yasmani right now with his contract and deflated value. Reese McGuire is the better defender and can be controlled through 2026. It also helps they traded for him. So, Seby is the odd man out. Seby hasn’t had a bad season by any means. He’s got over 100+ though in a small sample size of 100 plate appearances. He has struck out at a 30% clip which is pretty bad.
Seby is already 28 and while he can hit for power, the White Sox should trade him. He would bring back a player they could use right now. There’s always a need for a catcher and they shouldn’t hang onto a player that won’t play often for them. Don’t be surprised to see the White Sox trade a catcher come to the deadline. There’s just no tenable way for them to keep all three.
