Pirates pitcher Jose Quintana

FanSided’s Robert Murray had the Yankees and White Sox interested in left-handed pitcher Jose Quintana. Stealing him out from under New York would make getting this trade done all the more sweet.

Chris Sale’s injury woes appear never-ending. Rich Hill is coming back from injury. Michael Wacha is still awaiting a rehab assignment.

The Red Sox pitching staff could use a veteran starter like Quintana to shore things up. They won’t have hope of making the playoffs without a reinforcement or two.

Quintana has a 3.70 ERA this year with the Pirates.

Tigers pitcher Andrew Chafin

This one is tricky because Andrew Chafin has declined to receive the COVID-19 vaccination and can’t travel to Toronto as a result. That downside could be easily outweighed by the upside of bringing in another reliever to close out games. If the Yankees were comfortable bringing in the unvaccinated Andrew Benintendi, the Red Sox should be fine adding Chafin.

Chafin has an ERA of 2.53 this season and is coming off a strong 2021, during which he maintained a 1.83 ERA playing for the Cubs and A’s.

Any team out there could use an arm like Chafin’s in their bullpen.
