3) MLB rumors: A monster Toronto Blue Jays trade package for Shohei Ohtani

Shohei Ohtani seems like he could fit in well with the fun Toronto Blue Jays team. This young club with some veterans sprinkled in could use both his pitching arm and left-handed bat. Perhaps nobody in baseball could specifically use both more than Toronto.

How much could they give up for Ohtani?

The full trade includes Gabriel Moreno, Rickey Tiedemann, Jordan Groshans, Sem Robberse, Adam Kloffenstein, and Hayden Juenger going to the Angels for Ohtani. Like any massive trade for this one-of-a-kind superstar, it’s going to leave the Blue Jays feeling a little barren.

This trade exclusively includes prospects. The Blue Jays give up Moreno (1), Tiedemann (3), Groshans (4), Robberse (7), Kloffenstein (11), and Juenger (26) all with the mindset to win a championship either this season or next season.

Moreno is the easy headliner as the current fifth-best prospect in all of baseball. Tiedemann (62) and Groshans (83) are also in the top 100 at the moment.

The Angels fetch a mix of bats and arms in this deal. If it’s not enough, the Blue Jays shouldn’t hesitate to add a little more. None of their prospects are all that untouchable, even Moreno. The arrival of Alejandro Kirk this season as an All-Star catcher makes him terrific trade fodder they could use as a headliner in a trade for a superstar like Ohtani.
