2) MLB rumors: Los Angeles Dodgers still have enough prospects to land Juan Soto

The Los Angeles Dodgers still have enough to land Soto even after they made a different impactful trade with the Nationals around this time last year. It was right before the 2021 trade deadline when they landed Max Scherzer and Trea Turner for a nice haul of prospects. Surprisingly, they continue to have one of the better farm systems in baseball.

Amazingly the Dodgers still have a lot of great young players both in the major leagues and minors. Within the top 100 prospects, they have catcher Diego Cartaya (12), pitcher Bobby Miller (25), infielder Michael Busch (41), outfielder Andy Pages (46), and infielder Miguel Vargas (69), and pitcher Ryan Pepiot (74). This list doesn’t even include all of the younger major league players they could potentially swap including second baseman Gavin Lux. The Washington rebuild could accelerate with this kind of move.

1) MLB rumors: St. Louis Cardinals have the best prospect available in a Juan Soto trade

The St. Louis Cardinals are viewed by many as a favorite to land Soto for more than the city’s reputation of being baseball heaven. They currently have five of the top 100 prospects in Major League Baseball and some nice players already on the major league roster that can get dealt to Washington in this kind of deal.

We could expect the Cardinals to unload any of their top 100 prospects including third baseman Jordan Walker (6), pitcher Matthew Liberatore (44), catcher Ivan Herrera, and shortstop Masyn Winn (88), and pitcher Gordon Graceffo. While maybe quantity isn’t quite there with the Dodgers, the quality sure seems to be. At the major league level, players such as Dylan Carlson, Nolan Gorman, and Lars Nootbaar would also be potential up-and-coming players the Nationals could seek.
