2) Tarik Skubal trade rumors: The Braves use the young(ish) Tigers starter

The Atlanta Braves have a few rotation upgrades of their own they need to make. Spencer Strider has, fortunately, been able to step up and save them from having a much shorter rotation while Ian Anderson and Charlie Morton limp through the season.

They have been relying on Max Fried and Kyle Wright this year as co-aces of the team with Mike Soroka out. If they want any chance to catch the New York Mets or go deep into the postseason, they’re going to need to bolster the rotation. Skubal would be a nice addition and a guy possibly about to enter his prime they could control for a few more years.

The Braves are pretty fortunate that they have a starting lineup performing pretty well even with several guys underperforming this year. They don’t have all that many needs on offense but an addition arm like Skubal might be what they’ll need to push themselves over the edge and become a real threat in a top-heavy National League.

Even if Atlanta does fall short, Skubal is someone they will have control over for a few more years. They are setup well for the next few seasons with a lot of young arms that can help lead the way. It’s a move for now and the future.
