3. San Diego Padres

The San Diego Padres have much more of a need for outfield help than the Brewers. Each of their primary outfielders have been injured or been struggling recently.

Wil Myers is on the injured list but is about to return. He’s still only hitting .234/.276/.306 on the season. Left fielder Jurickson Profar is hitting .207/.324/.333 in his last 24 games. Center fielder Trent Grisham has hit .186/.275/.357 in his last 22 games and he’s hitting .191/.287/.338 on the season. Right fielder Nomar Mazara (who took over for Wil Myers when he went on the IL) is hitting the best of the trio but he’s still hitting .250/.313/.330 in his last 28 games.

So the need is there … but why aren’t they higher on the list? Juan Soto.

Ian Happ is a great addition but the Padres are one of the top three teams linked to Juan Soto. If you can only get one of them, Juan Soto is the guy to get. It would be even better if they could get both of them but it’s more likely that the Padres only get one. If that’s the case, why not go for, arguably, the best hitter in baseball?
