3 Yankees players who won’t be on the roster by September 1

The New York Yankees roster could look very different by September 1 with these three players possibly gone by the time August is over.
September is one of the most important months for the New York Yankees. It’s the final full month of the regular season for them to load up on wins and look to win the top seed in the American League.
On September 1, MLB rosters do also expand from 26 to 28 men, which will allow them two extra rosters spots. Even with the additional space, not everyone on the current team will still be with the team.
It’s these three Yankees who should be most fearful of losing their roster spot by September 1.
1) Yankees roster will not have Tim Locastro by September 1
Tim Locastro is a role player on the Yankees roster. Built for speed and defense, he can definitely serve a purpose. However, with some other potential needs, plus guys returning from the IL by September 1, he is the easiest of choices among the MLB position players to head back to Triple-A.
Locastro does have minor league options remaining, which we should expect the Yankees to use to their advantage. He’s the prototypical player on their roster who will spend — and already has spent —the season playing at both the major and minor league levels.
Whether it’s the return of Giancarlo Stanton or possibly someone else, there are already some clear ways for the Yankees to have more of a reason to demote Locastro in favor of someone else.
Locastro can continue to play well for New York and still see his time with the ball club come to a close — even if just temporarily. Fortunately for him, he could still always be a candidate to come back for the postseason. Teams tend to like carrying a role player like him.
