Truist Park is miles away from where Swanson grew up in Marietta proper. Although the former Vanderbilt star may not be on a hall-of-fame trajectory like his former best friend on the team is, he is Atlanta and he is the Braves. Every kid who ever played youth baseball in Greater Atlanta grew up wanting to play shortstop for the Braves. Swanson is living out all our wildest fantasy.

He may have picked a terrific time to have a career year, but Swanson has emerged as the unquestioned leader on this team. In time, Riley may become that next to him at third base, but for now, the 28-year-old from just up the road has undeniably become that.
