Top 5 bust candidates for fantasy football 2022
1. David Montgomery, RB, Chicago Bears
David Montgomery had an up-and-down 2021 season filled with injury and spotty play on a bad offense, all of which saw him finish as the RB19 in PPR leagues. Montgomery looks good when fully healthy and given the chance, but things might be out of his hands this season.
The Bears’ second-year back Khalil Herbert looked potentially even better than Montgomery last season when filling in during Montgomery’s injury. This year, it seems as though he will be more involved. 670 The Score’s Chris Emma says that “it’s clear the Bears believe in Khalil Herbert,” and then stated that he’s expecting more of a share alongside Montgomery.
Being in a timeshare in a bad offense is usually not the recipe for success. Montgomery is a risky low-end RB2 this season, while the more talented Herbert may be an interesting sleeper pick later in the rounds if both of them do end up in a timeshare.
