1. Chiefs would face PR nightmare bringing Kareem Hunt back

There was a mix of opinions on the Chiefs’ decision to immediately release Hunt after the footage became public and put his situation in the national eye. Technically, according to the NFL’s policies on domestic violence, the Chiefs could have weathered a suspension and moved forward with Hunt. It later came about, however, that the team was aware of the situation before it became public, and then learned that Hunt had been dishonest about his involvement in the incident.

At the end of the day, it was the broken trust that ultimately severed the relationship between Kareem Hunt and the Chiefs. Bringing him back to Kansas City would be a bad look for the front office, and would spark countless fires for the PR department to extinguish.

With the direction that Kansas City is headed in terms of roster construction — both in consideration of youth and affordability —the awkward and challenging relationship obstacles that would have to be overcome with Kareem Hunt make the idea of the Chiefs trading for him seem impossible.

The Browns may or may not receive an offer for Hunt that will convince them to move on from him, but they certainly won’t be getting one from the Chiefs.
