2022 Fantasy Football Draft: 3 Dallas Cowboys’ sleepers to look for
2. WR Jalen Tolbert
Tolbert finished his college career a South Alabama with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, with highs of 82 catches for 1,474 yards (sixth in FBS) last year. Over his final three seasons, he had 22 touchdowns (6, 8 and 8 respectively).
Before you dismiss Tolbert as a small school stud who dominated Sun Belt squads, know that he had had seven catches for 143 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee last season. Then he followed with even better numbers against Coastal Carolina, one of the best teams in the Group of 5, to end the season (10 catches for 191 yards and a touchdown).
With Michael Gallup not suiting up for Week 1 and likely the first few weeks of the season coming off a torn ACL late last season, Tolbert was potentially in line for a nice role anway. Then free agent addition James Washington suffered a broken foot early in camp, and he’s expected to sidelined into October.
The Cowboys continue to show no desire to sign a veteran wide receiver. So Tolbert is lined up to be the No. 2 wide receiver in a good offense for several weeks, and perhaps no lower than No. 3 when Gallup and Washington are both back.
But Tolbert’s ADP is in WR5/WR6 range regardless of source right now. Even with the possibility of a slight ADP bump coming, there are far worse ways to fill a late-round pick and a depth spot on a fantasy roster going into the season. It’s all upside here.
