Former NFL quarterback Chris Simms would rather have Joe Burrow over Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers in fantasy football and in real life.

Every NFL analyst tends to harbor certain biases when it comes to their favorite players. Some are fans of hometown teams, while some unite against particular players as they constantly make arguments against them.

NBC’s NFL broadcaster Chris Simms made it clear once again that Tom Brady is a little overrated — and for that matter, so is reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers.

When fantasy football mavens Matthew Berry and Michael Smith asked Simms who he’d rather take in fantasy between Brady and Joe Burrow, Simms went with the latter and then some.

“Joe Burrow all day,” Simms began. “Well, Tom Brady could never — in real life? It’s not even close. Tom Brady could have never brought that Bengals team to the Super Bowl last year. Never.”

Smith promptly took the show to commercial break to prevent Simms from “derailing” the conversation any further with his unpopular opinions.

As the hosts pivot away from Simms’ wild take and Berry hides his head in shame, Simms shouted: “Joe Burrow was in the Super Bowl, and Tom Brady wasn’t!”

Chris Simms honestly believes Joe Burrow is already better than Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers

Simms wasn’t quite finished yet. Berry asked Simms who he’d rather between Burrow and Rodgers, and to his credit, Simms remained consistent.

“I’m taking Burrow right now!” he declared. “One hundred percent. Burrow is one of the five best quarterbacks in the game.”

“One of the five best? You just took out two of the best ones already!” Smith laughed in response.

Berry then announces in a perfect newscaster voice: “The views and opinions of Chris Simms do not reflect the opinions of this show or any of its other hosts.”

“I learned to ignore Chris a long time ago,” Smith joked.

While it’s exciting to look at the young crop of new quarterbacks taking over the league — Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert — this doesn’t mean that Brady and Rodgers are already phased out. Rodgers is coming off two consecutive MVP campaigns and has made deep postseason runs with impressive regular season records. Brady just won a Super Bowl a little over a year ago on a brand-new team. Burrow’s Super Bowl campaign was remarkable and heralded what’s to come for Cincinnati, but by no means does this mean he’s already surpassed two legendary passers in terms of talent.

Even though Brady and Rodgers are older, they have the unequivocal benefit of experience. As long as Brady and Rodgers can make lightning-fast reads from the pocket and dissect defenses — something that a third-year quarterback like Burrow will not match for several years — Chris Simms may want to hold off on his hot take.

But to Berry’s original question, Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase are likely to put up big numbers in fantasy this year. So will Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson, so remember, fantasy success doesn’t always equal playoff success.
