5 most likely players to be traded after Kevin Durant makes up with Nets
By Scott Rogust
1. Donovan Mitchell, Utah Jazz
This list ends with the most likely player to be dealt: Donovan Mitchell.
The Utah Jazz, despite being a consistent playoff contender, pulled off the shocking move to trade multi-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Shortly thereafter, reports indicated that Mitchell could be the next player the Jazz would consider trading.
From the very start, the New York Knicks have been the most active in trade discussions with the Jazz for Mitchell. But, Jazz CEO of basketball operations Danny Ainge is not willing to part ways with Mitchell so easily. In fact, a report from Marc Berman of the New York Post stated that Ainge was looking for four unprotected first-round picks from the Knicks for Mitchell. That is what is holding up the deal.
Even if the Knicks are unable to acquire Mitchell does not necessarily mean he will stay in Utah. The Heat, who were in on Durant, can now go full steam ahead to land Mitchell.
It may be a matter of time until we hear the trade report that Mitchell has been traded. To where? That remains to be seen.
