3) White Sox sat back as the Twins tried to get better

The rival Minnesota Twins had an excellent trade deadline — at least in theory. They have since been dethroned by the Cleveland Guardians, whose trade deadline strategy was basically to do exactly what the White Sox did: very little.

The Twins, on the other hand, set themselves up to possibly fight through these dark times. In fact, they got two players that would have been nice additions for the White Sox.

Michael Fulmer and Jorge Lopez joined the Twins bullpen at the deadline to help bolster one of the most questionable parts of their roster. Frankly, all parts of this year’s Twins team could be critiqued. There is no one particular strengths of theirs that seem to make them a good candidate to win a World Series.

Although the results haven’t been there for Minnesota, they get credit for trying. We just can’t hand out that same round of applause to the White Sox.

When one team in your division goes as hard as Minnesota did, it’s time to take notice. React. Don’t sit around and do barely anything at all.

The Guardians might have grabbed first place away from the Twins, but the former aren’t out of it yet. Meanwhile, the White Sox have spent all year chasing after the division lead. Did they give up? It sure feels like it.
