Chicago Cubs pitcher rips on himself for hilarious uniform gaffe.

Justin Steele is putting together a solid season for the Chicago Cubs, and he recently proved he is so focused that he can even block out wardrobe malfunctions while he is on the mound.

Steele, the 27-year-old southpaw who was drafted in the fifth round by the Chicago Cubs in 2015, lowered his ERA to 3.25 on the season with six shutout innings on August 21 against the Milwaukee Brewers. While that’s an impressive day, Steele even went a step further, poking fun at himself on Twitter after the start for a uniform gaffe.

Of course, when Steele tipped his hand about his “oops moment,” Cubs fans had to have a little fun along with him as well.

While this season has been disappointing in Wrigleyville, Steele has certainly been a highlight for the Cubs. That includes what he has done when pitching inside the Friendly Confines, posting a 2.78 ERA/1.262 WHIP in 14 home starts covering 71.1 innings. Compare that to his road performance (4.04 ERA/1.488 WHIP in nine starts spanning 42.1 frames) and it’s clear to see that Steele likes taking the bump at Wrigley Field … even when his uniform isn’t exactly all the way put together.

Steele has also been catching the eye of his fellow pitchers, including teammate Marcus Stroman who raved on Twitter about what he has seen out of Steele this season.

It’s also clear that Steele is having some fun this season, taking some time to bring light to a zipper-related situation that so many of us can relate to as a “been there, done that” moment.
