Cowboys options for replacing Tyron Smith: Trade for Isaiah Wynn
According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Patriots have been including LT Isaiah Wynn in recent trade discussions. Perhaps the Cowboys should try to strike a deal?
Wynn is a worse option than Smith but perhaps the best option out there considering both free agency and the trade market, achieving a 74.9 grade from Pro Football Focus last year compared to Tyron Smith’s 91.4. He gave up six sacks compared to Smith’s two.
The main concern with Wynn is his durability, which could scare Dallas away. Injuries can happen at any time to any player, but you don’t want your fracture to be replaced by a player who is likely to miss some time.
Wynn, who was drafted in 2018, missed his entire rookie season due to a torn ACL and has appeared in 34 of the possible 49 games since in the last three seasons for the Patriots. That’s an absentee rate of over 30 percent.
The next option on the list as an absentee rate of less than 10 percent over the last two seasons, and feels like the perfect fill-in for Prescott and the Cowboys.
