Braves: 3 players who would have to be in any Mike Trout trade package
By Tim Boyle
2) The Braves would have to include Vaughn Grissom in a Mike Trout trade
Vaughn Grissom is apparently happy he isn’t playing for the New York Mets but what about the Angels? If the team is able to re-sign or extend Dansby Swanson, Grissom is absolutely a trade candidate for the ball club to move on from this winter. In a deal for Mike Trout or someone else, it feels like the next step for the Braves to take.
Grissom has been impressive since making his MLB debut earlier this month. Where do the Braves find these young and talented players? He wasn’t even one of those top-tier prospects everyone expect to be up in the big leagues contributing this season.
An injury to Ozzie Albies opened the door for Grissom to eventually get his shot after the team also lost Orlando Arcia. An uncertain future in Atlanta right now, he’d be someone the Angels would want in return for Trout.
As bad as the pitching is in Orange County, they don’t have too many bats either. The Angels have some big holes in the lineup even with Trout and Ohtani present. Grissom would become the starting shortstop for them immediately.
If the early start Grissom has put together for the Braves is any indication of what lies ahead, the Angels will be very satisfied getting him as part of a deal for Trout.
