An elite tight end is flying under the radar in fantasy football.

In 2020, Washington Commanders tight end Logan Thomas scored the third-most fantasy points among tight ends in PPR leagues trailing only Travis Kelce and Darren Waller. Thomas was heavily involved in Washington’s offense, as he was third among all NFL tight ends in both targets (110) and receptions (72).

Thomas had a strong start to the 2021 season, as he scored two touchdowns in his first three games. Through Week 3, he was seventh among tight ends in fantasy points. Unfortunately, he suffered a hamstring injury against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4.

Thomas was activated later in Week 12, and he played for the Commanders against the Seattle Seahawks recording three receptions for 31 yards. During the next game, Thomas started to reestablish his rhythm with three receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown, but Thomas ended up tearing his ACL. He was placed on the injured reserve, and he missed the remainder of the season.

Fantasy Football: Logan Thomas is being undervalued

Coming off an ACL injury, Thomas does carry some risk, but there is plenty of upside here. Currently, Thomas’s overall ADP is 225. On average, he is the 25th tight end coming off the board in fantasy football drafts. Furthermore, he is rostered in only 7.3 percent of ESPN leagues.

When healthy, Thomas was a top-ten fantasy tight end last season, and he is facing little competition on the Commanders’ depth chart. Their number two tight end is John Bates, who had 25 targets in 17 games last season.

In addition, Thomas has the opportunity to establish himself as the second receiver in the Commanders’ offense. In 2021, no player outside of Terry McLaurin recorded 400+ receiving yards.

Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said Thomas has a “chance” to play Week 1.

“It’s another milestone as he gets more and more involved, it gives him a chance to be hopefully ready to go in that first week,” Rivera said per team reporter Zach Selby.

If he is inactive, he is still worth stashing on your bench. Considering his performance on the field, he should easily outperform his current ADP.

Thomas is a good TE2 with TE1 upside.
