College football power rankings: Top 25 quarterbacks for the 2022 season

Last preseason’s No. 1 overall pick switches schools to play for a bowl of mayo
This time last year, everybody and their brother knew Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler was going to be the No. 1 overall pick of the Houston Texans in the 2022 NFL Draft. Well, not only did the Texans not finish in last in their own division, Rattler got benched and both Oklahoma starters from last season ended up transferring. Rattler reunited with Shane Beamer at South Carolina.
Not only was a mayo bath an appropriate consolation prize for winning the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, but it may have tempted Rattler to come to Columbia and play for Coach Beamer. The Gamecocks were supposed to be terrible, yet Beamer had his team finish as Mayo Bowl champions. Rattler has all the talent in the world, but he did have a difficult time putting it all together at Oklahoma.
Should he play up to his potential, Rattler can leave his second team as a possible first-round pick.
By the end of the season, we will know the difference between Devin and Dennis
As long as Dave Doeren’s North Carolina State Wolfpack keep winning games, we will learn the difference between Learys Devin and Dennis. While Dennis Leary is a famous actor, Devin Leary is about to be the most famous Wolfpack quarterback since Russell Wilson, Philip Rivers or Mike Glennon’s giraffe neck. Convertibles be damned, Leary is taking this Wolfpack places this season.
Although Clemson and Miami are stealing headlines in ACC country, Leary is the best quarterback in the league on what could be the best team in the conference. While it is still hard to fathom North Carolina State getting into the playoff because winning the division has been an impossible task for them forever, Leary has the talent and the teammates to finally buck that trend in Raleigh.
Look for Leary’s Wolfpack to do more damage in ACC play than Alan Garner’s ever did in Las Vegas.
