Don’t tune out Houston or Clayton Tune this year, as these Cougars are ferocious

We have arrived at our first Group of Five starting quarterback on this list. Although the Houston Cougars are joining the Big 12 in July, one could argue they are the favorite to win the Group of Five one last time before going Power Five. Head coach Dana Holgorsen has one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the country in Clayton Tune back for yet another season at the helm.

As long as Houston keeps winning games, we will have to pay attention to what Tune and the Cougars are doing at U of H. He may not have the fanfare that D’Eriq King once had, but Tune is the quarterback that can take Houston places. If the Cougars play up to their potential, Tune could see his NFL Draft rise to new heights. Sleeping on Houston is a bad idea. Do so at your own peril.

Look for Tune to help put forth the positive momentum Houston needs to nail that Big 12 jump.

After a cup of tea in Columbus, Quinn Ewers is back to help bring Texas … back

Quinn Ewers’ time in Columbus was as brief as it was awkward. However, he was the No. 1 overall prospect in his recruiting class before he reclassified for tea reasons. The former Southlake Carroll star can really sling it. By beating out Hudson Card in his first season on campus, Ewers looks to be the man to bring Texas football back for real this time. He is Steve Sarkisian’s guy in year two.

Ewers’ inclusion on this list is a tad controversial because he only has a pair of Buckeyes handoffs to his name thus far. Yet, he is a prospect we cannot stop talking about. Although the idea of him may be greater than the real thing, the allure that comes with Ewers is too good to pass up. Let’s hope he’s not the next D.J. Uiagalelei or Tate Martell, as Texas wins about eight games this season.

If all goes according to plan, Ewers will find himself firmly inside the top five on this list for 2023.
