4 Braves clubhouse reactions to Spencer Strider making history

3. What did Spencer Strider say about his historic night?
Looking back on his outing, Strider said that his fastball command against the Rockies set up everything else for success.
“As the season’s gone along, the fastball has gotten better and the metrics on it, I’ve been spinning it better and my delivery synced up more,” Strider said. “I’ve been expecting that to happen, sort of what happened last year. If you keep in your routine and do something as much as we do, by the end of it, you should find it a lot easier.
“These last few outings, I’ve been very happy with where my fastball has been and I was just kind of able to let it loose tonight.”
Strider had nine strikeouts through his first five innings and said after the game he lost count on his way to the Braves record of 16.
“I lost track after five [innings],” Strider admitted. “I came out of the game and Kyle [Wright, fellow Braves starter] was telling me something about John Smoltz or whatever, and I had no idea what he was talking about. It didn’t make any sense. And then somebody else said something and I just kind of looked cross-eyed at them and they were like, ‘You know what just happened?’ It was neat. It was very cool for them to tell me that.”
