6) Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman

Austin Riley’s former teammate, Freddie Freeman, went from the World Series champions to the best team in baseball this year: the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers have a record of 94-42, which is the best in the sport by 6.5 games.

This year, Freeman is leading the majors in hits (172) and doubles (44). He’s hitting .324/.398/.510, which is second, third, and sixth in the NL. He also has 17 home runs, 84 RBI, and an OPS+ of 147, which is sixth in the NL. That is the highest on the Dodgers among players with at least 200 plate appearances. The next best offensive player on their team is next on our list.

5) Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts

Mookie Betts had a bit of a down year last year as he didn’t receive any MVP votes after receiving MVP votes in each of the previous six seasons, including winning the AL MVP award with Boston in 2018 and finishing in second two other times. This year, he has definitely rebounded into a player that could be an NL finalist for MVP.

He leads the NL in runs (105) and he has 33 home runs and 74 RBI, the former of which is fourth in the NL. He is also hitting .280/.348/.563, the latter of which is second in the NL. Defensively, he has been one of the best players in baseball as he has 4 OAA and 13 DRS, the latter of which is fifth-best in the NL.

His 6.4 fWAR is third-best among NL position players.
