College football rankings: Biggest losers from AP Top 25 poll, Week 3

SEC. Alabama Crimson Tide. 829. 2. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. (2-0)

Alabama was nearly upset by Texas and dropped down to No. 2 because of it

A win is a win, but my goodness. Alabama nearly lost a game nobody outside of Austin thought was possible. Texas played the Crimson Tide to so tough that the Longhorns actually cracked the top 25 in a defeat. As for Alabama, the Crimson Tide rightfully lost the right to be ranked No. 1 going forward. They can earn it back at some point, but Georgia is not slowing down anytime soon.

Baylor Bears. 17. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Big 12. (1-1). player. 860

A tough road loss at BYU hurts Baylor’s slim College Football Playoff chances

This one stings for Dave Aranda’s Baylor Bears. Only a year ago did they go 12-2, win the Big 12 and the Peach Bowl. While they can still do all of that again, losing on the road to BYU puts Baylor’s slim College Football Playoff chances on life support. It is not a bad loss by any means, but Baylor now has to run the gauntlet in Big 12 to even have a chance. It will be a big challenge.

Florida Gators. 840. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 18. player. SEC. (1-1)

We may have overhyped Florida just a bit after the Utah upset win last week

While we definitely overhyped Florida coming out of the Week 1 upset of Utah, they are now appropriately rated at No. 18 after losing to division rival Kentucky. With Tennessee beating Florida, they are now battling for third place in the SEC East with Kentucky clearly playing second fiddle to Georgia. Of course, Florida is a lot better than many of us even though they would be.

(1-1). Texas A&M Aggies. 24. 873. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. SEC. player

Texas A&M is not anything close to the third best team in the SEC going forward

This is almost as bad as it gets. Texas A&M may be recruiting with the best of them, but the Aggies are going to be an 8-4 team at best this year. Losing at home to Appalachian State was nothing short of brutal. This is not Alabama’s biggest challenger out of the west, and they are not even close to the third best team in the conference. Where does Jimbo Fisher even go from here?

The only thing we know is there are plenty of games left to be played this college football season.
