Davante Adams looking like exactly what the Packers are missing
By Scott Rogust
The Green Bay Packers passing offense struggled in Wek 1, and Davante Adams showed just what they were missing in the Las Vegas Raiders-Los Angeles Chargers game.
One of the many big trades that happened this offseason involved wide receiver Davante Adams. After spending the entirety of his career with the Green Bay Packers, Adams was dealt to the Las Vegas Raiders and received a five-year, $140 million contract extension. Even though the contract negotiations did not go well, the Packers losing Adams was always going to be huge.
In Week 1, Adams played his first official game with the Raiders, as they took on the Los Angeles Chargers. Just take a look at the route run by Adams, and how many yards he picked up after the reception.
Davante Adams shows Packers what they’re missing
Let’s take a look at how the Packers were doing against the Minnesota Vikings.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has a relatively new wide receivers corps. Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb remain, but the team added Sammy Watkins, Romeo Doubs, and Christian Watson. Speaking of Watson, the second-round rookie had a walk-in touchdown on what was a beautiful pass by Rodgers. Instead, Watson dropped it.
Rodgers was visibly frustrated on the sidelines, as he was held to just 76 yards passing in the first half.
Back to the Raiders game, Adams scored his first touchdown with the team, as he caught a three-yard pass from quarterback Derek Carr to cut Las Vegas’ deficit to 24-19.

The Raiders brought in Adams to build off of their run to the playoffs last season, which ended in a Wild Card Round loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, the eventual AFC champions. By bringing in Adams, he reunites with his former quarterback at Fresno State in Carr, who both put up monstrous numbers during their time with the program.
In the first game of the 2022 campaign, Adams showed Green Bay just what they were missing.
