Cowboys predictions, Dalton Schultz

1. Dalton Schultz will catch 10 passes

Schultz isn’t the most dynamic pass-catcher in the NFL, but he did lead Dallas with seven catches last week. That may not be a recipe for success for the Cowboys, but Schultz should serve as a quality safety blanket for Rush in this game.

The Bengals know that Dallas will try to feature Schultz in this game, which means he’ll see plenty of safety help over the top. That will stop the Cowboys tight end from making big plays down the seam.

What it won’t do is stop Schultz from making short and intermediate catches in the flat. That’s where Rush will need to see him pop up to make sure he can keep the offense on schedule. Schultz will get a high number of catches in this game, even if his yardage doesn’t reflect it.

Next. Cowboys stats show just how dire things are for Dallas. dark

In the long run, Dallas needs to figure out how to get CeeDee Lamb more involved in their vertical passing game. It’s too much to ask from Rush to figure that out in his first start of the season. Cowboys fans should expect a firm diet of Schultz in their Week 2 matchup.
