Steelers bold predictions: As close as the experts think

The Patriots are surprisingly favored by -2.5 to head into Pittsburgh and come away with a win. While the Steelers looked subpar last Sunday, one would expect them to ride that win to a 2-0 start, especially against a team as flawed as New England appears to be right now.

Mac Jones is injured, but will play. Even without Watt, the Steelers can apply interior pressure and did a good job stopping the run last week. New England doesn’t possess anyone as dangerous as Joe Mixon.

Limited weapons on the outside means the Steelers can load the box, thus making up for any lacking pressure due to the absence of Watt. On paper, it looks like the perfect matchup for an ailing team in Pittsburgh.

The only question mark remains the Steelers offense — expect a low-scoring game, and a close one. But if Pittsburgh breaks the 23-point barrier, it could be enough.
