New York Yankees Aaron Judge replacement candidate: Bryan Reynolds

Bryan Reynolds is in a different solar system than Judge but as far as available center fielders goes, he’s one of the better options. A member of the Pittsburgh Pirates, he has been someone Yankees fans have been eyeing for several years. With the Pirates not expected to compete yet again in 2023, taking advantage of a major hole in the Yankees lineup might be the time for them to strike.

Reynolds is a different kind of player than Judge. A slow start to this season has managed to turn into something much more productive. He is back on the trade radar. And while he won’t alone be able to replace Judge’s contributions, the team could look to find a lesser free agent to pair with him.

It’s also worth mentioning the outside chance that the San Diego Padres have buyer’s regret with Juan Soto. There’s a likelier chance of the Boston Red Sox sending Rafael Devers to the Yankees. San Diego gave up a ton to guy Soto—one of the best Judge replacements the Yankees could have dreamed of. They aren’t going to sell him away this soon.

The conclusion every Yankees fan can come away with is that there is no single player for the team to completely replace their star slugger. Trout is the closest. Ohtani can do some of the things and more. Every other realistic option is a tier or two down.
