Atlanta Braves fans aren’t going to like how the New York Mets broadcast treated Ozzie Albies’ latest injury.
It seems like Ozzie Albies had just returned to the Atlanta Braves lineup after coming back from a broken foot. Just as Braves fans were getting excited to have one of the key pieces of the lineup back, his season looks to be over after breaking his right pinky finger in Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Just to set the table here: Albies broke his finger in a game between the Braves and Phillies. The New York Mets were not involved at all, at least until they inserted themselves into the narrative thanks to the broadcast team.
Mets broadcasters brought up Albies’ latest injury with a comment making light of the situation.
The Braves and Mets are fighting for the top spot in the NL East this season, and hve three games left against one another at the end of the month.
Needless to say, Braves and Mets fans don’t need much needling to go after one another, and the Albies comment stoaked coals that burned hot with fierce reactions on social media.
Braves fans react to Mets broadcaster’s comment about Ozzie Albies
One fan stated they “lost all respect” for the broadcaster for his “out of pocket” comment.
Another shared their dislike, writing, “Cohen is nothing more than a fan in the booth and an overrated announcer as well.”
One defended the player and the fanbase, stating, “It was nice having him back, not our fault it only lasted a day…”
Another believes they’re unprofessional broadcasters, stating that it “seems like they picked up two random guys off the street.”
With the Braves being so close to winning the division, it’s understandable why fans would be upset at the dig from their rivals. Hopefully Albies will recover quickly.
