Tom Brady and Todd Bowles famously said this before Week 2: their rivalry with the New Orleans Saints is no longer a rivalry.

“It’s not a rivalry unless there’s some give-and-take,” Bowles said last week.

Give-and-take…a curious choice of words, Coach Bowles.

Of course, there was no way for Bowles to know just how much give and take this NFC South rivalry would see on Sunday.

There was the tug-of-war between the Bucs and Saints, which saw them both held to singular field goals until the fourth quarter. That’s a testament to the defenses of both of these teams, as well as some offensive struggles for both units. Tom Brady was hung out to dry without the majority of his starting offensive line and wide receivers, while Jameis Winston battled through back pain without the assistance of Alvin Kamara.

Then, Marshon Lattimore gave a piece of his mind to the Bucs sideline, and Mike Evans took the bait.

That was the breaking point for this game. The Bucs gathered themselves and zeroed in, while Winston panicked and Vintage Jameis emerged to throw three picks on three consecutive drives.

Above, Bucs cornerback Jamel Dean is all smiles as he hauls in an interception against the Saints. He actually did it twice, swooping in to catch passes from his former quarterback.

The Bucs-Saints rivalry has always been a spicy one, and after four seasons, the Bucs finally sprinkled in some of their own flavor to the mix.
