Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert breaks a tackle.Dolphins V Patriots Nfl Game 54 /

4. RB Raheem Mostert, Miami Dolphins

Rostered: 51.7%

Mostert is an interesting player. He showcased elite talent during his time with the San Francisco 49ers. He has been consistently efficient with the ball in his hands. Since 2017, Mostert is averaging 5.6 yards per carry, which leads all NFL running backs during that span (minimum 150 rushing attempts).

Not only is Mostert efficient, but he also possesses elite speed. In 2020, he recorded the two fastest plays in the entire NFL, per NFL Next Gen Stats. His fastest play was an 80-yard rushing touchdown, in which he reached a speed of 23.09 miles per hour. It is the second-fastest play since the statistic started being tracked in 2016.

His skill set was on full display in the 2019 NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers. Mostert was unstoppable rushing for 220 yards and four touchdowns.

So, why isn’t Mostert considered a household name? Why is he competing for touches in Miami?

Well, health has been a recurring problem for Mostert. In his final two seasons in San Francisco, he appeared in only nine total games.

After taking a backseat to Chase Edmons in Week 1, the Dolphins relied more heavily on Mostert in Week 2. He had a team-high 11 carries for 51 yards; he also hauled in all three of his targets for 28 yards.

Splitting touches with Edmonds limits Mostert’s immediate fantasy ceiling, but he appears to be the lead back in Miami, right now. If he plays well, his role could be further expanded.

He is worth stashing on your roster, due to his high upside.
