Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 4: No. 16-15

16. Ole Miss Rebels

One of the more interesting subplots in the early goings on of SEC play has been the seemingly abrupt transition for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss from a high-octane shootout-style offense to a defensive-minded team. And we got to get the best look yet at what that could look like against a top-tier offense as they welcomed Tulsa to Oxford on Saturday.

To put it simply, it was anything but a ho-hum win for the Rebels as they had real difficulty stopping what has admittedly been one of the more potent offensive attacks in college football to this point in the season. But while that may be so, Quinshon Judkins and Jaxson Dart stepped up offensively to lead this team and secure a win to keep Ole Miss perfect to start the season.

15. Baylor Bears

The final score of the Big 12 opener for Baylor might not be fully indicative of how well the Bears fared on the road against Iowa State on Saturday. After moving to a 31-14 lead with under 10 minutes left in the game, the Cyclones got a field goal and touchdown late in the game that made the end result look better than it was.

Baylor looks like another team in this range of the rankings that is going to be tough to beat in any game but that is also beatable by a good team in any game. Blake Shapen is extremely talented and Dave Aranda seems to have found someone special with running back Richard Reese to go with a stout defense. But the question now becomes how this looks in an increasingly wide-open Big 12 picture.
