Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is expected to start against the Jacksonville Jaguars, despite having a rib injury.

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is expected to start against the Jacksonville Jaguars, despite having a rib injury. He’s expected to get an ultrasound-guided painkiller injection that will allow him to play, which many remember a not-so-favorable time when then-Chargers starting QB Tyrod Taylor had the same procedure without success.

In Taylor’s case, there was no ultrasound guiding the injection and his lung was punctured as a result. He was forced out of the game last minute, so from trial and error, Herbert’s will be guided by ultrasound and hopefully all will be safe.

The situation, of course, has garnered several humorous reactions and comparisons between the two players on Twitter.

Twitter reacts to Chargers Justin Herbert’s injury

Twitter fans don’t hold back, that’s one sure thing that’ll probably never change. It makes for some of the best reactions, and the Herbert situation has brought out many.

Justin Spears of the Arizona Daily Star and the Wildcaster posted a humorous clip of a guy telling another to run, then him running in fear. Spears captioned it, “Tyrod Taylor when he sees Justin Herbert about to take a painkilling injection just to play against the Jags.”

It seems to be a huge risk to take for a second time. Rodger Sherman of the Ringer seems to agree. He posted a gif of a guy very nervously drinking water with the caption, “The Chargers team doctor who stabbed Tyrod Taylor in the lungs while trying to give him an injection getting ready to give Justin Herbert an injection in the vicinity of his lungs.”

PointsBet Sportsbook also shared their thoughts with the iconic meme from The Simpsons, with the character on a bus saying, “I’m in danger.” They captioned the meme with, “Justin Herbert getting ready to receive a pain injection from the Chargers doctors and remembering how he got the starting job from Tyrod Taylor.”

One user replied to Adam Schefter’s news with a funny video of a guy in a scripted court saying, “The guy tried to kill my father.” He captioned it with, “BREAKING NEWS: Footage of Tyrod Taylor, Jr. advising QB Justin Herbert to not take the pain-killing injection that would be administered by Chargers’ doctor.”

And one with no comment, just for humorous value.

Twitter certainly brings out the best in people.
