3 notable Tigers who won’t be back and where they’ll go

3. Outfielder Victor Reyes will not return to the Tigers in 2023.
It looks like it’s about to be the end of the line in Detroit for outfielder Victor Reyes. While Reyes recorded more extra-base hits this season than he had since 2019, the Venezuelan also posted his lowest OPS since his rookie season.
A walk-rate of below 4.0% just isn’t going to get the job done in today’s game. While Reyes has never been one to draw a lot of free passes, it’s quite likely that the Tigers’ patience is wearing thin and the organization may well be looking in another direction.
Reyes was a Rule 5 Draft pick of the Tigers back in 2017, but flashed potential the following year. However, Reyes’ up-and-down performances since being part of the club may likely spell his demise. It’s more likely that Detroit will hold on to outfielders Akil Baddoo and Austin Meadows.
So where will Victor Reyes end up? That’s puzzling question and one that might become cleared once all the clubs throughout Major League Baseball make determinations on their offseason rosters. Reyes is still relatively young and can play all three outfield positions. Perhaps the thin air and expansive outfield of Denver would help. Look for the Colorado Rockies to express in Victor Reyes.
