Mac Jones playing in Week 4 feels like a long shot, but he seems absolutely determined to take the field against the Green Bay Packers.

UPDATE, 3:55 PM ET: Following the publication of this article, the Patriots listed Mac Jones as OUT for Week 4.

Last week, the New England Patriots took their second loss of the season, and in the process, it looked like an even bigger loss took place: An injury to their quarterback, Mac Jones.

Jones suffered a high ankle sprain in the loss to the Baltimore Ravens, and photos of Jones after the game looked like the injury was even worse than it appeared on the field. For most of the week, there were serious doubts over whether Jones would be available for the team’s Week 4 matchup in Green Bay against the Packers.

Patriots fans were blessed with a great sight at practice on Friday, with Jones showing up in full gear:

According to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald, Jones responded well to treatment this week and will be a game-time decision come Sunday. The few extra hours since it’s a late-afternoon game could be all the difference in getting him ready to go.

As of now, the Patriots are 1-2, tied with the Jets for the worst record in the AFC East. A win to bring them back up to .500 would be huge in positioning them well for the rest of the season.

With 786 yards, Jones is top 10 in the NFL in passing yardage and a significant piece of the puzzle for New England. Their backup QB is Brian Hoyer.

After Green Bay, New England has a softer schedule. They face the Lions, Browns, Bears, Jets, Colts, and Jets again. Going in .500 to that slate creates a great opportunity to pad the win column.
