Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 4: No. 14-13

14. BYU Cougars

Coming off a humbling loss to Oregon, the Cougars turned up on Thursday night with hopes of getting the bad taste out for their mouth but it took them a while to do that. The one-win Utah State Utes didn’t make it easy for the home team. Shockingly, they had things tied up at 17-17 at halftime.

BYU turned things up in the second half, pulling away to take a 38-20 lead early in the fourth quarter and closing things out from there.

Was it pretty? No. Was it a needed win? Yes. Otherwise, the Cougars wouldn’t sit where they do.

13. Kentucky Wildcats

The Wildcats had multiple opportunities to take a late lead over Ole Miss. They blew them with two Will Levis fumbles sealing their fate. Kentucky fans can argue about a potential missed targeting call before the first fumble. They can also point to the quarterback’s dislocated finger as a reason for the miscues. The game still ended in disappointment and there’s no changing that.

It was a setback for Kentucky, no doubt. However, it’s not the end of the world. They get South Carolina and Mississippi State at home the next to weeks to get their heads right before a pivotal matchup with Tennessee.
