The Houston Astros continue to be the cream of the crop in the American League and in 2022, they are looking to make it to the ALCS for the sixth straight season and making it to the World Series in four of those seasons.

The Houston Astros are returning to the playoffs for the sixth-straight season and they have made it at least to the ALCS in each of the previous five seasons.

However, they have only won the World Series once, as they won in 2017. However, non-Astros fans believe that the 2017 title is tainted because their sign-stealing scandal. To put the haters to bed, the Astros are (and should be) operating under the “win the World Series or bust” mentality.

Under the new playoff structure, they will not have to play in the American League Wild Card series as they will receive a bye in the new playoff structure and will be the no. 1 seed in the ALDS.

Houston Astros playoff schedule

Since the Houston Astros have the aforementioned bye in the Wild Card round, they will play their first playoff game on Tuesday, Oct. 11, which means they will have five days between their final regular season game and their first postseason game.

Due to the lockout to start the season, the regular season schedule was altered slightly to accommodate all 162 games and the postseason is no different.

If the Astros play in all five games of the ALDS, they will play on Oct. 11, Oct. 13, Oct. 15, Oct. 16, and Oct. 17. It will still follow the 2-2-1 format but they will have an off day between Games 1 and 2 and Games 2 and 3, instead of having off days between Games 2 and 3 and Games 4 and 5.

If they reach the ALCS, they would start play on Oct. 19 through Oct. 26, if they play all seven games. They would have a travel day between Games 2 and 3 but not between Games 5 and 6, unlike previous years. In other words, if they need to play all seven games in the ALCS, they will be playing five games in a row without an off day.

If they make it to the World Series, the regular 2-3-2 schedule will stay the same and the travel days would as well (after Game 2 and after Game 5). The World Series starts on October 28 and would end no later than November 5.

How to watch the Astros on TV

For the ALDS, the Astros will be on TBS for all of their games. If the Astros make it to the ALCS, the games will also be broadcast on TBS. If the Astros make it to the World Series, then all of the games will be on FOX.
