3. Not addressing the outfield as well as they should have in the offseason or at the trade deadline

The White Sox had some issues with the health of their outfielders in recent years, on top of their defensive woes.

Last year, Andrew Vaughn (who is by far their worst outfielder) played 107 games in the outfield. Nobody else played in more than 68 games in the outfield overall. Ideally, Vaughn would be a DH because he is one of the worst defensive players in all of baseball. His -17 DRS on the season is tied for the second-worst of anyone in the sport this year.

The White Sox decided that with Luis Robert’s and Eloy Jimenez’s consistent injury histories that they’d turn to A.J. Pollock … who has been slightly below average offensively and slightly above average defensively. Gavin Sheets has been below average offensively and defensively as well

So what do the White Sox do at the trade deadline to address their outfield situation? Nothing. Jimenez is back but he is a bad defender too so Vaughn is out in the outfield and Jimenez is DH’ing in an attempt to keep him healthy.
