Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 6: No. 20-19

20. Kansas Jayhawks

Yes, the dream undefeated season for Kansas is over. But if you were questioning what head coach Lance Leipold has done with this program even still, then what we saw on Saturday should say quite a lot about that.

Despite Heisman dark horse quarterback Jalon Daniels going out of the game with a shoulder/arm injury against TCU, another unbeaten Big 12 team, the Jayhawks hung tough and actually still had a chance to beat the Horned Frogs late in this game. That says a lot about the confidence, coaching and talent on this team.

Is putting them at No. 20 a bit much? Maybe. But I don’t feel any worse about Kansas after their first loss than I did coming into the big matchup in Lawrence this past week.

19. Syracuse Orange

Dino Babers’ team were watching at home on Saturday with an off week scheduled and they most definitely need it with the schedule they now have lying ahead. The Orange will take their undefeated record against NC State, Clemson, Notre Dame, Pitt, Florida State and Wake Forest over their next five games.

If Syracuse is going to be a team that plays a serious spoiler role in the ACC, this will be the stretch where they prove if they’re capable. Based on what we’ve seen this year, though, the Orange are most definitely not a team that any opponent can take lightly.
