Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 6: No. 10-9

10. Penn State Nittany Lions

James Franklin’s team got the week off after climbing into the Top 10 of the rankings and you could definitely say they needed it with the schedule they have in front of them after this week.

Next week, the Nittany Lions will gon to the Big House for a battle of undefeated teams against Michigan. The week after, they host Minnesota. The week after that, Ohio State will be coming to Beaver Stadium. And that might be the next best three teams in the Big Ten all playing Penn State in back-to-back-to-back fashion.

With that said, while the team came into the year with many questions, they’ve answered every single one to this point. Now is their opportunity to prove just how for real the Nittany Lions are in the 2022 season.

9. Ole Miss Rebels

It would be completely understandable if Ole Miss came into Saturday’s matchup with Vanderbilt not taking the game completely seriously. Not only are their next games against Auburn and LSU but the Commodores, though much improved, have not been competitive thus far against SEC competition. And that looked to be the case for the Rebels as they fell in a shocking hole early.

Full disclosure, I was ready to drop Lane Kiffin’s team in the rankings after Saturday with the way things looked in the first half. But then the Rebs found their mojo again and ended up hanging 52 points on Vandy to secure a dominant win on the final scoreboard. That’s enough for me to think this team still deserves this spot and, when they play engaged football for 60 minutes, they can hang with most anyone.
