San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle hasn’t been performing up to par with the expectations of fans, but he has a good statement for that.

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle has had big expectations from fans that he’s been unfortunately falling short of. Though he’s frustrating anyone who has him in their fantasy leagues, he has a good statement regarding his performance.

Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports wrote about why Kittle isn’t concerned about his own performance while everyone else is. Kittle has acknowledged that his performance has declined, but he’s just aiming to positively impact the team and continue winning games.

Kittle told Maiocco:

"“I’d love to have 100 yards receiving and a touchdown every game. As long as I’m impacting the game in a positive way, as long as we’re winning games, I really don’t care.”"

So far this season, Kittle is averaging 26 yards per game, down from 79.3 and 65.0 per game in the most recent two seasons. He has yet to log a touchdown.

He just came back from a groin injury after missing the first two weeks of the season, so that could be a contributing factor to his lower performance. Regardless, the Niners have gone 2-2 so far this season, so they aren’t doing horrible. They currently tie every team in their division.

There’s more hope for Kittle as the season unfolds.

49ers TE George Kittle will likely perform better as the season unfolds

Kittle is much better than he’s letting on this season. Over his six-season career, he’s had 341 receptions and 20 touchdowns over 4,541 receiving yards. He’s also only had three fumbles.

With quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo still on the team, the two will likely play well together considering they’ve played together for several years.

Kittle spoke about Garoppolo with Maiocco and said, “I’ve been with Jimmy for five years. I kind of know how he’s looking at it, and he knows how I’m feeling the plays. I’m open every play, man. I make sure to tell him that: ‘Jimmy, on Deebo’s touchdown, I was wide open. I swear to God. I beat the guy on a seam route. I was wide open.’”

Though Kittle has been disappointing to those who have him on their fantasy team, he probably won’t be disappointing the entire season.
