2) Blue Jays starting pitcher Ross Stripling – Texas Rangers

Ross Stripling is one of only two free agents that the Blue Jays have. He was one of their better starting pitchers this year, though. In 32 games (24 starts) on the season, Stripling went 10-4 with a 3.01 ERA, a 3.11 FIP, and a 129 ERA+.

The Blue Jays need some starting pitching but they will probably turn to someone else.

As for Stripling on the free agent market, a perfect fit for him would be the Texas Rangers. The Rangers faltered this year after spending more than half a billion dollars on the free agent market. Their problem was that they spent little on pitching.

Their starting pitching was atrocious as they had a 4.63 ERA on the season, which was 25th in the sport. The Rangers, obviously, aren’t going to spend north of $500 million to be a sub-.500 team and with their GM Chris Young (a former starting pitcher himself), look for them to spend money on their rotation this offseason.

Stripling also went to high school and college in Texas and is a former Los Angeles Dodger. The Rangers have been trying to emulate the Dodgers in recent years as they have been interested or signed many former Dodgers (Corey Seager, former manager Chris Woodward, they were interested in Clayton Kershaw, and many others in recent years).
