The San Diego Padres defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers and earned a spot in the NLCS, and the Padres radio announcer had the best reaction.

The San Diego Padres overtook the Los Angeles Dodgers and earned a spot in the NLCS on Saturday night, and Padres broadcaster Jesse Agler had the best reaction to the feat.

Agler reacted with pure excitement after Josh Hader threw the final strike of the game:

“Freeman went after a slider in the dirt and the ballgame is over! The series is over and the Padres have slayed the dragon, they defeat the Dodgers in four games to advance to the National League Championship Series.”

Hader was acquired in a deadline trade from the Milwaukee Brewers, and though he wasn’t at his best during the regular season, he hasn’t disappointed in the postseason.

San Diego certainly wasn’t considered a favorite to advance. It seemed like a nearly impossible feat over the Dodgers, who historically had one of the best regular seasons in MLB. However, anything can happen in the postseason.

The Padres are just one series away from the World Series, and they have a genuine chance at making it.

The Padres have a good shot at making it to the World Series

San Diego will be facing the Philadelphia Phillies starting on Tuesday. The Phillies have been on fire this postseason, but so has San Diego.

Each team also beat notable opponents. The Phillies beat the defending World Series champions, the Atlanta Braves, almost with ease. The Padres fought a little bit harder against the Dodgers, but the Los Angeles were favorites to win the World Series and were one of the best teams in the regular season.

The series will likely be extremely competitive, and it’ll certainly be an exciting one to watch for two teams we assumed were longshots.
