With Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines out, Deon Jackson had a monster performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Jackson had 12 carries for 42 yards and a touchdown, and he had 10 receptions for 79 yards. As of Monday morning, he is the top-scoring running back in fantasy football leagues this week.

There is a chance that Taylor and/or Hines could return next week. There are signs that Colts could continue to exercise caution with Taylor. “Everyone’s aligned,” a source told NFL insider Jordan Schultz. “He’s very disciplined with his weekly biomechanics/recovery regiments. The abundance of caution is necessary for long-term health, being available for the entire season and beyond. Not about 1 or 2 games.”

It’s also important to note that Jackson suffered a quad injury in the second half versus the Jaguars and was unable to return, meaning this is an injury situation that needs monitoring.

If Taylor does not play next week, Jackson will be a must-start running back in most fantasy football leagues if healthy. If Taylor plays and Hines does not, Jackson will still hold some value. Hines, typically, plays a large role in the passing game, and Jackson’s 10 receptions are an indication that he could fill that role.
