1. The effectiveness of James Harden and Joel Embiid’s two-man game

Harden may not be the perfect offensive partner for Embiid but he’s miles ahead of what Simmons could do with an MVP-caliber season. The way Philadelphia’s two offensive juggernauts gel together this season will go a long way toward determining whether or not Philadelphia can be a true title contender.

The duo will run plenty of pick-and-rolls this season but look for the 76ers to rely on a variety of other two-man actions to fully unlock the pair’s offensive potential. A steady habit of dribble handoffs from different spots on the floor will be used to pressure opponents. Harden should also see more time deployed as a weakside creator when Embiid generates quality post touches on the strong side of the floor.

The real key for the 76ers is to make sure friction doesn’t emerge between their two offensive engines. Rivers needs to make sure the pair create synergy for one another rather than devolving into a situation where each star takes turns to utilize the possession.

Embiid is a star willing to alter his game to help his team win. It’s imperative for Harden to demonstrate a similar level of selflessness if Philadelphia is going to realize its full potential. There may be some early season growing pains but look for the duo of Embiid and Harden to develop into an unstoppable force around the All-Star break.
