Moving up the age scale, we get to Russell Wilson (33) and the Broncos. After years of success in Seattle that included one (should have been two) Super Bowl(s), the relationship between the QB and the team soured. This past offseason, the Seahawks traded the veteran for Drew Lock, Shelby Harris, Noah Fant, Denver’s first- and second-rounders in each of the next two drafts and a 2022 fifth-rounder–an incredibly high price.

So far, it’s looking like Seattle robbed Denver, as the 2-5 Broncos look more and more dysfunctional each week. But let’s dig in and put some more meat on the bones. Wilson’s 35.2 QBR is 28th in the NFL, a far cry from his productivity with the Seahawks. His 58.6 percent completion percentage is a career low, and he only has 5 passing TDs against 3 interceptions. Again, lifting and citing stats doesn’t tell the whole story. Since the trade, news and rumors have come to light about Wilson’s leadership style and relationship (or lack thereof) with his teammates.

The bleeding seems to be stopping, however, as Wilson’s torn hamstring is keeping him on the sidelines for the near future. Wilson’s tenure with the Broncos is just beginning after signing a 5-year $245 million deal. And so far this season, it’s looking like Denver might begin experiencing buyer’s remorse.
