5 veteran QBs who have crashed and burned spectacularly this season
2. Aaron Rodgers
The next QB on the list might be the biggest surprise. Aaron Rodgers (38) is coming off back-to-back MVP seasons. But after watching his 3-4 Green Bay Packers play this past weekend, you wouldn’t know it. Rodgers lost Devonte Adams this past offseason to the Las Vegas Raiders, which raised questions about the potency of the offense in 2022. But the Packers’ toed the company line all Spring, assuring fans that the new crop of receivers would be ready to go –nevermind the fact that Rodgers missed mini-camp and the Packers didn’t draft a WR in the first round of the Draft.
So far this season, the rookies haven’t seemed prepared, and each postgame loss takes fans and reporters further down the Aaron Rodgers merry-go-round of blame. A league leader in most passing stats last season, the veteran’s numbers this year look pedestrian at best. His 1,597 yards are 10th, and his QBR rating is 26th in the league. And with 3 interceptions, he’s almost reached his total from last season, with 10 more games to go. Rodgers is in the first year of a three-year, $150m deal. And while no one is running around with their hair on fire yet, without some additional weapons, it might not be a glorious end to an illustrious career.
