Projected College Football Playoff rankings after Week 9: No. 6-5

6. TCU Horned Frogs

Though it feels like TCU has been in trouble more often than not over the past few weeks, another Saturday of action has passed and the Horned Frogs still have a zero in the loss column.

Playing on the road in Morgantown, everyone knew that TCU was a better team than West Virginia, but the Horned Frogs have been running a gauntlet of Big 12 foes and were playing in a tough environment. That could always make things tricky and, sure enough, it did.

Max Duggan, however, pulled out a heroic effort to win in a shootout over the Mountaineers as he threw for 341 yards and three scores to help propel his team to the 41-31 road victory and keep TCU perfect on the year.

5. Clemson Tigers

Last week, Clemson needed a quarterback change to Cade Klubnik from DJ Uiagalelei to help spark a struggling offense against Syracuse. Klubnik, frankly, didn’t have to do all that much, but the run game stepped up in a major way to get things moving in the right direction for the Tigers and, ultimately, avoid the upset and preserve the program’s illustrious winning streak in Death Valley.

Dabo Swinney and his team had Week 9 off as the Tigers now prepare for a trip to South Bend to face Notre Dame. Given what the Irish looked like early in the year, that might not seemn like much, but the team has started to show real signs of improvement lately. Regardless, Clemson needs chaos in front of them to crack the Top 4 at this point.
