Minnesota Vikings defensive back Patrick Peterson wants revenge on the Arizona Cardinals, and he has a good reason.

Patrick Peterson’s Vikings took down the Cardinals by a 34-26 scoreline. While Minnesota’s pass defense leaves plenty to be desired, Peterson is one of the more veteran members of that group.

Per Peterson himself, the former Pro Bowler has plenty of motivation to defeat the Cardinals, as he was treated disrespectfully during his time in the desert.

“I’m still waiting on [general manager] Steve Keim to call me,” said Peterson, via ESPN. “Still haven’t talked to him.”

Peterson broke up three Kyler Murray passes on Sunday, so he more than proved his worth for the Vikings.

Vikings: Why did Patrick Peterson want revenge on the Cardinals?

So, why did Patrick Peterson feel disrespected by Arizona?

Apparently, while Peterson was a member of the organization, someone would print out negative comments about him and hand deliver them. While it’s possible this was seen as a form of motivation, Peterson viewed it as the ultimate sign of disrespect.

“What did I do to deserve this from a fan?” Peterson asked.

“All I heard the last two years is that ‘He’s washed up, he’s done.’ I know we’ve still got a second half of the season to go, but I’m just getting started. Like, I’m in my zone right now. I’m in a groove. I’ve been here before, I know how to keep it. And I want to continue being challenged, and continue helping this team win ballgames,” Peterson added.

Peterson’s Call of Duty jab at Peterson was planned ahead of time, though his comments towards Keim and the Cardinals organization were not. Arizona has developed a negative reputation around the league for such things, with Keim and Kliff Kingsbury at the forefront.
